Periodic Inspection Testing

All electrical installations deteriorate with age and use. They should therefore be inspected and tested at regular intervals to check whether they are in a satisfactory condition for continued use. Such safety checks are commonly referred to as ‘Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)’.

The aim of an electrical installation condition report is to:

• Record the results of the inspection and testing to make sure it is safe to be used until the next inspection (following any work to make it safe)
• Report on damage and wear and tear that might affect the safety
• Report on the installation that does not meet the requirement of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) wiring Regulation
• Report on anything that may cause high temperatures and electric shock

On completion of the test, you will be issued with an Electrical Installation Condition Report.
